Adolescence, Age & Femininity, 2018
Adolescence, Age & Femininity centres around femininity in the 21st century as this issue has recently come to the foreground of political and cultural debates. Ideas of feminism are put forward by imagery possessing traditionally feminine qualities which juxtapose ideas of adolescence, age and femininity. Focusing on ideas of girlhood and gender as aspects that form both positive and negative stereotypes for women, many of her images are taken of women and girls who she has had a close relationship with in order to capture intimate or personal moments. Colour palette and texture are two major elements driving the composition of the images, with soft and warm lighting often used to create feelings of delicacy and intimacy towards scenes and the girls within it. Overall, her work aims to highlight the female form and traditional femininity as a positive role within the social movement of feminism.
